The challenge

Flush joints, bespoke mechanisms, continuity

To create a bespoke kitchen island in stainless steel with Peltrox® Vetrificato finish, composed of 16 doors, 2 side panels, top, and plinth, for a leading client in the design industry, who chose DMM for the production of its metal kitchens.

The design request was clear: to move beyond the traditional juxtaposition of elements by introducing solutions capable of defining a new aesthetic language.

The distinctive feature of the island is the flush integration of a painted aluminium turned profile between the top and the side panel, conceived as a continuous design feature rather than a simple joint.

Adding to the complexity is the extractable top with integrated backsplash, designed to extend the depth of the worktop while maintaining perfect coplanarity.

The system required the development of a dedicated mechanism capable of ensuring smooth movement and preventing any contact or friction between the metal surfaces.

The response to these requirements took shape through Advanced Engineering, enabling the development of tailor-made technical solutions and production drawings to perfectly integrate distinctive elements and complex mechanisms within a continuous metal structure, together with Bespoke and Exclusive Solutions, developed to transform every functional constraint into a defining feature of the project.

The result

Dedicated machining on the top and side panel allows the turned profile to fit perfectly flush, creating a continuous and controlled joint. Custom-developed runners ensure the extractable top moves smoothly and precisely, without friction, while maintaining perfect alignment between the surfaces.
